1993
Birki Schuh GmbH was founded as a licensed brand of the Birkenstock Orthopaedie GmbH & Co. KG. The objective: To make possible even greater relaxation for all families.

1995
Birkis invented direct moulding: This procedure inseparably fuses the upper material with the synthetic footbed. Advantages: no solvents, longer durability.

1999
Birkis was the first to develop bathing sandals and clogs made of ALPRO-Cell®, a light and robust synthetic material, for example the Fun Birki.

2004
Birkis created the first adjustable functional styles with flip-over or removable heel straps, removable instep straps and clip-on accessories among other things.

2005

The Fun Birki received the Red Dot Design Award for product design in New York.

2007

Birkis developed the soft footbed, with which one can enjoy the soft advantages of the cork-latex footbed. The special feature: for each size individually moulded, permanently elastic latex cushion.

2008

Birkis developed its first Disney collection with Mickey and Minnie, Pluto, Winnie the Pooh and Piglet, Tinker Bell and the stars from Pixar Cars. The cooperation with Disney continues today.

2009

Birkis develops the soft+base sole for walking on hard surfaces, such as stone or asphalt. Its cushioning equalizes uneven surfaces and cushions comfortably – particularly for the knees and back.

2009

Birkis develops its own Charity Collection for the DKMS (German Bone Marrow Donor Centre). For each shoe sold, Birkis donates one Euro for people with leukaemia.
